This publication is the result of a collaborative project between professors and students from “George Enescu” National University of the Arts in Iasi, Romania (www.arteiasi.ro), and the Institute of Fine Arts and Art Theory from the Eszterházy Károly Catholic University in Eger, Hungary (www.uni-eszterhazy.hu).
The “Common Matters” publication is the result of a collaboration between professors and students from “George Enescu” National University of the Arts in Iași, Romania and Eszterházy Károly Catholic University from Eger, Hungary. It brings together artistic projects created in recent years by students specializing in nature art from Eger and photography from Iași. Whether collective or personal projects, independently created or guided by their professors, the works selected in this publication are assembled to form a visual dialogue, embodying the perspectives and perceptions of these young artists regarding contemporary society.
Doubled by the critical contribution of the text written by Kund Kopacz, professor at Eszterházy Károly Catholic University from Eger, Hungary, the projects include approaches to the concept of nature art installations, landscape interventions, and documentary photography, following the analytical direction of a visual essay, journalistic documentation, or artistic reflection on post-medial expressiveness. The effort of the editorial team of the publication formed by Lavinia German, Kund Kopacz, and Cătălin Soreanu involved assembling the content in a narrative sequence that offers contemplative perspectives on the poetic understanding of human existence, points out directions to understand our intricate relation with the nature, initiates reflections on the topics of object, consumption, and memory, or it echoes the resilient presence of nature in contemporary society.
Concluding the publication, you will find short biographies of some of the featured artists. The editorial team extends its gratitude to them, as well as to all those who contributed to this collaboration between art educational institutions in Iași and Eger.
