In 18-21 of May 2016, in Iasi (Romania), it will take place the pilot edition of the project “CAMERA PLUS. Biennial of contemporary photography and moving image”, organised by the Centre of Contemporary Photography. The exhibitions would be visited until May 30, 2016.
In the framework of the biennial will be produced a series of exhibitions and will be organised a conference (on the topic of “The ethics of photography and the poilitics of the image in times of crisis”), a session of portfolio reviews (Preview Plus Workshop, with foreign and Romanian evaluators), a critical workshops on the analysis of the photographical image, a meeting with an editor of photography books, screening of experimental films and video art, and a session of audio-video performance. A selection of works from the exhibitions will be presented in autumn in one of the WASP spaces in Bucharest.
CAMERA PLUS Biennial aims to contribute to the support of the production of artistic research and theoretical research by analysing and mediating the photographical practice, the moving image and the critical theory of photography in Romania and abroad. By organising this biennial, the organisers propose to create a framework for knowledge production and mediation of the contemporary photographical practice, to facilitate the formation of groups for the analysis of the current photographical practice in view of a better understanding of the role of the photographical image in relation to the contemporary cultural experiences and the multi-perspectival knowledge of the world, as well as to investigatigate the photographical practice of the young artists, who work in the field of photography, experimental film, and video art, in order to constitute a visible platform for developing a professional condition.
The organizing team of the biennial is constituted by the initiative group that founded the center for Contemporary Photography (the centre of contemporary photography in iaşi, Romania: Matthew Bejenaru German, Lavinia Catalin Gheorghe, Cristina Moraru, Cristian Nae and catalin soreanu.
